Sad Carousel
Jackie has photo tagged me! Obviously I must be pokey as I keep getting tagged. I can walk fast but forget running away. This is the game where you pick the 6th photo from the 6th file, post and blog. Don't panic. I will not name names again, but please, consider posting your picture and story. It really is kind of fun. And check out Jackie's blog, Pink Diamond Workshop. It's pink and delicious, with no added colours or preservatives!
And now, I present, Sad Carousel. Off in the corner of some casino in Reno we found this bunch of carousel horses just laying there. Why were they there? I do not know. But a sad picture it was.

Tagged for Life
Theresa, a fellow Las Vegan, has tagged me. As the rules state, I must reveal 7 random facts about myself. At the end I'm supposed to tag 7 people HOWEVER given that I've tagged almost every one of you once, I'm not going to name names. Anyone reading this, and you know who you are (right?) consider yourself tagged. C'mon, share a piece of yourself with us on your blog! I don't know about you but sometimes I just don't know what to blog about, so here's something...you you you. And check out Theresa's blog and her really wonderful Etsy shop.
Here are my random facts:
I Yesterday I was shopping at Goodwill and I purchased a pair of ADORABLE baby Ugg boots. Or maybe they're toddler boots, what do I, a childless spinster, know about baby boots? This random fact reveals a couple of things about me. I thrift shop (religiously). And I buy completely useless things. But they were so cute!!! And now they are sitting in front of my fireplace, and I could use them as bookends. And I just love Uggs and can't afford a pair to wear but now I OWN a pair of Uggs!!!
II I have two (2) high school diplomas.
III I would way rather send/receive an email than talk on the phone.
IV I love Melatonin-induced dreams.
V I miss Knot's Landing but have found that Desperate Housewives fills the void.
VI I once sat in the lobby of a hotel in Los Angeles, just because I knew David Bowie would be walking by. And he did.
VII I think roman numerals are cool.

7 WONDERS
1. Why does Bam Bam poop overboard everytime? He’s 13 yrs old, shouldn’t he know where his back end is by now?
2. Why would a 2/4 limit Hold’Em player, who constantly mutters grumbles and swears under his breath, and throws his cards when he loses, continue to play day after day?
3. How does one get cat hair off a hot glue gun?
4. Why do my blinds open from the middle while my windows open from the side?
5. Why is my hair getting all knotty this winter?
6. Why do miserable people choose misery?
7. Why can’t I burn wood in my gas fireplace?
.....What are YOUR 7 wonders today? .....

S & T CREATIONS - PARTNERS IN SUBLIME
Bold. Vibrant. Eye-catching. Dynamic. All words that describe, but do not do justice to, the creations of S&T. S=Saundra Brown-Gordon, the flamboyant, outgoing and organized member of the team. T=Teri Baskett, an artist at the jeweler's bench and the keyboard. Their tastes are very much in sync, both preferring larger pieces (though Saundra tends to favour a little more bling.)
A visit to S&T Creations will dazzle the eye with gemstones, glass and crystal. But don't be fooled, they have something delicious for every budget, including custom orders in a wide price range.
For those of you in the area, their jewelry can be found at Gift Expressions, LaFollette Station, Floyds Knobs, Indiana. Don't despair out-of-towners - you're in luck too. S&T Creations can be found online at www.sandtcreations.com, S&T Creations Etsy Store, and the S&T blog. Teri can also be followed on Twitter as Teri_B.
So follow me now to the up-to-date, always style focused S&T Creations. See you there!! (I think I might have to have that darling hat pin, what do you think?)

The Photo Tag Game/Jelly Donut
A new (to me) and fun tag game, the requirement is to choose the 6th folder and the 6th picture. Thanks for the hit Kimberly. Check out her blog and her Etsy shop, she is one talented tagger!
My picture is entitled Jelly Donut. Jelly Donut is located on Virginia Street, a main road in Reno, NV. It's the long stretch of Virginia between the regular casino section (downtown?) and the Atlantis/Peppermill section. In the 3 or 4 days we usually spend in Reno each visit, we drive this stretch countless times. Jelly Donut is one of those retro doughnut shops that have absolutely no decor, no charm, no warmth. But they do have pretty darn good doughnuts. I would prefer if it was called Baked Donut (I don't like jellies nor am I fond of putting food in my body that has been plunged into a vat of oil.) Anthony would prefer if it was called Jelly Donut & Pizza ('nuff said.)
The picure reminds me of the enjoyable time we always have when we go to Reno. We'd gone every year since we met but last year I couldn't because I was in a new job with no paid time off yet (no Anthony, I cannot affor to take time off without pay, neither financially nor mentally.) Maybe on our next visit (hopefully Spring) I'll finally take a picture of the Asian restaurant with the sign that reads, "Have a Rice Day."
Thanks for joining me on this short trip down memory lane. I wish you all a rice day!
Now the rules of the game:
1) Go to your picture folder, or wherever you store your photos on your computer
2) Go to the sixth folder and pick the sixth picture
3) Post it on your blog and tell the story that goes along with the picture
4) Tag five friends to do the same thing, and leave a message on their blog that they have been tagged~
I hereby TAG:
1. Jamee Jonara Blu Maui
2. Marjorie Marjorie's Cracked Plate Jewelry
3. Michelle Michivision
4. Willow Simply Willow
5. Wezz The World of Wezz
NOTE: IF YOU DON'T WANNA PLAY I WILL FORGIVE YOU...eventually.

The Art of the Gift
Obligifting (v) - Ob-li-gift-ing ... Giving a gift mostly because one feels one must. From the root word Obligift (n).
Now that we’ve survived another holiday season, I find myself reflecting on the art of gift giving.
Let me preface with this - I am an awful person to choose a gift for. There have been numerous times when, upon opening a gift, my first comment was, “Did you keep the receipt?” So now you know.
I may not always score, but I do feel the need to really spend time and thought on the person’s gift...what might he/she like/need/want, that is within my budget? I’m even a big fan of re-gifting, but only in that case that I truly believe that gift is something the person would really enjoy. Even when I buy greeting cards, it often takes me a long time (and several stores) to find the one that really suits that person.
Is it my imagination, or does it seem that many people just want to get the giving over with? (If this was Sex and the City, that would be the line that would show up on your TV.)
-I received a pair of Native American-style turquoise and red earrings. You only have to know me about 5 minutes to know that is so not my style (lovely though they may be.) And this did not come from an acquaintance but from one of my close friends.
-A good friend bought me candles. I am a candlemaker (or Chandler for those in the know.) Need I say more?
-A man I’ll call “Len” feels no cold. Seriously. It will be 30 degrees out and when I ask if he feels the chill he answers, “no.” He owns no jackets, no sweaters, not even a long sleeve shirt. He wears nothing but short sleeve cotton summer shirts all year long. This year someone gave him a leather jacket. This same man is severely diabetic. He also received a bag of candy.
-A good friend gave me a 12 cup self-cleaning coffee maker. His reasoning? Mine was dirty (yes, I’m a slob but that’s a blog for another day.) I live alone and make my coffee one cup at a time because I can only tolerate fresh coffee. (In his defense, he’s also given me 2 of the best gifts EVER so he probably shouldn’t be included here, but on the surface, this sounds like a fine example.)
In conclusion, they say “It’s the thought that counts.” But all too often it seems to me that the giver is only thinking of the obligation.
Either that or I’m an ungrateful b*tch.
